Excellent overview from VC's KPCB, of the #FinTech landscape today & in the future
Over the past 10 years:
- ~5k FinTech companies have been formed
- $60bn has been invested in global FinTech ventures
Western startups today are unbundling services, while Chinese leaders rebundle !
Eventually, FinTech transfer, payment and lending services, face the real threat of being absorbed into the Tech platforms of #Apple, #Google, #Amazon and #Facebook
The big 4 won't have it all their way though, since:
- China's Alibaba (Ant Financial) and Tencent (WeChat) also have global ambitions
- Anti Trust concerns on the dominance of Big Tech could surface
- Incumbents collaborating with FinTech to create open ecosystems, building full stack offerings, communities, connections & CX could prove formidable opponents!
